"Getaway Car" by Audioslave (verse riff)

Riff Rundown

Difficulty: Easy

Audioslave is the unlikely teaming up of former Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell and members of Rage Against The Machine (minus singer Zack de la Rocha). This song is from the "supergroup's" first album, the self-titled "Audioslave".

Guitarist Tom Morello's playing on the verse riff is very minimalistic, but it does a great job setting the tone for Cornell's vocals. It should quite easy for even the novice guitar player to learn to play.

Here is the transcription to the verse:

Here is what it sounds like :

How To Play It

Once you get the correct fingerings down this riff should a breeze to play. It moves very slow at a crawling 61 beats per minute. The chords above shown above the staff tells use what chords the notes Morello is playing is from. In the 2nd and 4th measure, hold the the first two notes so that they will still sound as you play the 3rd note on the B string.

See the image below as an illustration for the fingerings. The red numbers at the bottom will tell you what fingers to use in the pattern:

In the video below you can see the riff played at regular speed (61 bpm):
